11 Quick and Easy Tips to Help Shed Pounds Without Hitting the Gym

Living the office life can often take a toll on your health, especially when you resort to fast food and vending machine snacks throughout the day.  We at Beat The Gym know that it can be hard to lose weight when you just don’t have the time to get to the gym, so we put together this list of ways that will help you on your way to a new and fit lifestyle.

1 – Water

Drink lots of water, all day every day.  Before meals and between meals will help curb your appetite.  Dehydration also often masks itself as hunger.

2 – Don’t Drink Your Calories

The only time you should drink any calories is in a healthy smoothie or protein shake.  No sodas (even diet ones) or high-sugar juices.  Eat your fruit when possible, the extra fiber will help you feel fuller for longer.

3 – Use Smaller Plates

And don’t forget a bigger spoon or fork!  This will trick your body into thinking you are eating more food.  If you see a plate filled with food, your brain will thing “Whoah! I just ate this whole plate!”

4 – Pile Up Your Food

Putting all of your food in one, big pile will again trick your brain into thinking there is much more of it.

5 – Veggies First

Put your vegetables on your plate first, they should cover about half of the face of it.

6 – Spice It Up!

Spicy foods actually fool your taste buds into being more satisfied with smaller amounts.  Tip: Sprinkle popcorn with a spicy pepper blend!

7 – No Fad Diets

Starvation mode will put your body into survival mode, which actually causes it to hold onto every single fat cell for dear life, in case you need it later.

8 – Love Yourself

If you don’t love yourself heavy, you won’t love yourself throughout your new fit lifestyle.  It’s not a magic-fix for problems, you did not get heavy or night, you will not lose it overnight either.

9 – Change Your Life

There is no magic cure, the only way to lose weight and keep it off is to consistently burn more calories than you take in.  It’s a life change, not a two week change.

10 – Make It A Mantra

“Today I will eat food that nourishes my body and makes me feel good.  I exercise to stretch my muscles, becuace I deserve the best I can to for myself.

11 – Keep Track Of Inches

When you think you have hit a plateau in weight loss, it is your body exchanging fat for muscle.  Muscle tissue is half the size of fat and burns calories more efficiently.
